What is Fitness?

It is important to be physically fit.  Being healthy and fit does not just mean you aren’t sick.

Fitness is being able to do activities every day without getting tired. 

Physical activity and exercise help you be physically fit. 

When you move your body it is known as physical activity

Any type of body movement is physical activity.

Physical activity can include things like:

       standing up and sitting down

       sweeping the floor

       pushing a cart at the grocery store

       lifting your toys to put them away

Exercise is a type of physical activity that you do to improve your fitness

You may already be doing exercise every day.  Some of these might be:

       walking or riding your bike to school

       climbing stairs

       playing tag with friends

It is important to get a lot of physical activity and exercise every day to stay healthy.
