Balancing

 

Goal:

Action: Keep the body steady without falling over.

Technique:

  • Stand on one foot and keep the body steady. Switch feet.
  • Place both hands and feet on the ground. Lift one foot in the air and stay balanced. Switch feet.
  • Place both hands and feet on the ground. Lift one hand into the air and stay balanced. Switch hands.
  • Balance on your bottom by sitting on the ground and lift hands and feet off the ground.

Skill Activities:

  • Balance on your hands in a handstand.
  • Time how long you can stay balanced in the different positions.
  • Try closing your eyes and staying balanced.
  • Try balancing on different objects (i.e. box, rock, chair, etc.).
  • Discover balance positions with a friend (i.e. wheelbarrow, hold hands and lean backward, etc.).
