How did a design standard evolve out of the Expressionism movement?

From the chaotic mixture of styles that formed Expressionism came a desire to create a unified visual language. The Modern design style was created to move away from classical and ornamental designs. The designers of this era took inspiration from the political, social, and industrial changes happening in their everyday lives.

The Modern movement focused on the merger between art and industry to create designs that did the job while still being creative, experimental, and visually appealing. Designers moved from organic, natural inspirations to more geometric layouts. Asymmetrical typography and photography were used to create dynamic, yet simple designs.

The Modern design movement remained influential for many decades as it evolved and developed. However, As World War II began to change the world, the Modern art movement began to decline. The prominent design styles of the time developed into more straight forward forms of design.
