Objectives

Students will:

  1. Examine the role of the NAACP in enrolling African American students in white schools after the Brown v. Board decision.
  2. Discuss the Blossom Plan and segregationist responses to it.
  3. Explain Arkansas' and the U.S. government's response to the protests.
  4. Examine the Greensboro sit-ins and their impact on segregationist practices in business.

  1. Identify and describe injustices toward African Americans and other American minorities, such as Jim Crow laws, segregation, discrimination, and incidents of violence.
