Flip-Box
What is a flip-box? How can I use one?
Goal:
Goal:
A flip-box is an area of text that, when clicked, “flips” over to reveal a shaded box containing additional content, such as a prompt, sample answer, or an explanation. Once a student clicks a flip box, it will flip to the back but the student can click again to see the front, as often as needed. Usually, the area that is clickable is also shaded a slightly different color.
The front and back of a flip box can contain images in place
of--or along with--text. However, one thing to keep in mind when
deciding to use this interactive is that the front and the back
of the box will be the same size, so the amount of content on
each side should be similar. If using images, they should be
rather small.
The text that appears above a flip-box should direct students to click the designated area or box and should ask a question or provide direction about what students should think about before they click the box--and perhaps after they read it. (Alternatively, these directions can appear on the box itself.)
