Blisters are frequently caused by friction from shoes or boots.
Blisters may develop on the hands from friction caused by handling a ball, a bat, or other piece of athletic equipment. If possible, you should try to avoid putting pressure on the blistered area until the fluid has been absorbed. Chances are, however, that by the time an athlete notices the pain, the blister will have already broken.
Blisters heal best if left unbroken. To treat a blister one should clean the area. Keep the blister covered with a sterile dressing. This will protect the area until it is healed. If the area becomes red, swollen and especially tender, an infection has probably developed. In that case, seek medical attention.
