In this unit, you have examined active listening as it is applied to learning in your conversations, group discussions, and your courses. You have learned and practiced the Cornell Note Taking system as a key strategy for turning active listening into the foundation for learning from any presentation. In this lesson, you will examine five different note taking strategies, each of which will complement your understanding and use of note taking as a central learning strategy for lecture settings. As you examine each strategy, you will find the purpose and possible application of each to other settings including research, after lecture note reviews and more. As you consider how you might adopt one or more of these strategies in your daily studies, you will be reinforcing the truth that a strategic approach to learning makes study for effective and efficient.
