Remember that warmer colors include reds, oranges, browns, and yellows, while cooler colors include shades of blues, purples, violets and greens. For this assignment, you will use construction paper and glue to create two original designs: one cool and one warm.
Your designs can depict something from life, like a face or a flower, or can be a more abstract creation, such as a pattern or intersecting shapes. Whichever you choose, make sure you use at least three different warm or cool colors for each composition, and that you apply the principles of design from previous lessons (including contrast, space, proportion, emphasis, rhythm, and movement).
To complete this project, you will need:
- Color construction paper (with many warm and cool colors)
- Colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ruler
Once you have completed your creations, scan them, take a picture of them, or otherwise turn them in to your teacher. You will be graded using the following rubric:
