Start your road trip on the West Coast in the state of California. There is so much to see. Where should you begin? You can take a drive along California's Pacific Coast Highway to see some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. This route is also a Blue Star Memorial Highway, so motorists are recognizing those that serve in the U.S. armed forces. Or you could take a ride on the California Street Cable Car in San Francisco. It is the last manually operated cable car system left in the world. This cable car system was built in 1873. Enjoy the hills and views as you ride. Don't forget to see the Golden Gate Bridge while you're in San Francisco. Did someone say ride? There are many great amusement park rides in California. You can visit Disneyland, Legoland, Six Flags, Universal Studios, and more. There are several water parks in California, too. Do you like animals? The San Diego Zoo has over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species. Sea World is another famous place to visit to see ocean life up close, and there are other aquariums you can visit as well. Have you ever snorkeled before? La Jolla Cove is beautiful and has a lot of marine life to see. You can also go kayaking and tour caves in the area. Do you like the ocean? The Pacific Ocean runs along the entire west border of California. You can swim, boogie board, surf, fish, kayak, and more at many famous beaches. You can't miss Hollywood, California. There are many big studios where the movies you enjoy are filmed. You can also visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame with more than 2,600 gold stars with famous stars' names. Speaking of famous people, you might see one if you visit the city of Beverly Hills where many movie stars live. Rodeo Drive is a famous street with upscale shopping. There are many amazing piers in California. This is the Santa Monica Pier. There are places to eat, an arcade, and lots of rides. It is also the end of the famous Route 66, which is a legendary highway of 2,450 miles that stretches between eight states. California has so many places to visit. Where will you begin? |
