There are some simple food webs like the ones you explored earlier in this lesson, but not many. Most food webs contain many overlapping food chains with lots of plants and animals.

Even though it makes studying food webs a bit more challenging, a complicated food web is actually a very good thing for the environment. The bigger the food web, the stronger and less fragile the whole ecosystem will be. An ecosystem works best when there are lots of different plants and animals in it.
