Goal: Can you use a hundreds chart to identify place value patterns in groups of 10?

There are 4 circles of 10 kids. How many kids are there in total? We can add 10 + 10 + 10 + 10. Or we can skip count by 10s. Click on each group of kids to see how.

40 kids are going to see the animals! Here are the numbers we used to count the kids:

10, 20, 30, 40

The ones place is always 0. The tens place goes up by 1 every time we skip count. That means if we skip count by 10 five times, we will count up to 50.

This is a hundreds chart. A hundreds chart has all the numbers from 1 to 100. We can use the chart to skip count by 10!
