Why would you want to reflect on your experiences—out loud?

When you submit the final draft of a reflective essay, you've reached the end of a long and perhaps intense process. Examining a personal experience thoroughly and thoughtfully is no small accomplishment, and you should feel proud of yourself. If you have applied all of the suggestions in this module's lessons, the big idea in your essay is supported by well-crafted anecdotes, helpful analogies, and even a few rhetorical flourishes. Now it's time to celebrate—and to show off your work by sharing it with others.

In this lesson, you'll transform your reflective essay into a performance—that is, you'll share it with an audience using spoken words instead of written text. Along the way, you'll learn and practice some strategies for polished, meaningful storytelling.
