As Anne's diary draws to a close, we see a burst of optimism as news reaches the Annex of the D-Day landings and the advancement of the Allied troops. Anne begins to dream of a future outside of the Annex walls. She looks forward to going back to school and even allows herself to imagine being a successful and industrious adult who finds meaning in her work.
As you read, consider what you might dream about if you had been in hiding for more than two years and suddenly got a glimpse of hope and freedom.
Read the diary entries beginning with May 31, 1944 – July 8, 1944, of The Diary of a Young Girl.
