Before working on your own designs, it will be helpful to research successful uses of the principles of design in existing works. The principles will appear in many different types of design such as classical art, advertising, publications, film, video games, websites, product design, or architecture. Anything that had to be thoughtfully created will use the principles of design in one way or another.
Click the Activity button to open the Finding Examples of the Principles of Design worksheet. For this assignment you will find an example for each principle of design and explain how the example successfully illustrates the principle. Be sure to include what elements of art contribute to the principles of design that you are referencing.
These examples can be any form of two or three dimensional work from the internet, magazines, or books. You will need to scan or take a picture of each example to submit with your worksheet. Be sure to label each example file name so that it correctly matches the name on the worksheet. This will make sure that your instructor can grade your work properly.
Use the rubric below to see how your assignment will be graded so that you are able to receive the highest possible grade.
