What is the slope of a landing plane?

The image represents a landing plane and the path the plane takes. This landing trajectory has a steepness or slant called slope.

Slope

Slope is defined as how far up and down an object moves divided by how far left or right and object moves.

This can be written as \(\mathsf{ \frac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}} }\) and is often seen as the letter m. It is said as "rise over run".

Question

Slope is often positive or negative (sometimes zero, which is neither). Is the slope in the image positive or negative?

Since the plane is landing and is coming down, the slope or steepness is negative. If the plane was taking off from the ground and going up, the slope would be positive.
