What are seals and why are they important?

In the past, seals were made with wax and the design was stamped into it. This made the document authentic, or official. Today, seals are made in many ways. You can see the U.S. seal on money, passports, flags, government buildings, documents, and other items. Your state seal appears on state flags, vehicles, and important state documents.
