Another way to look at how culture is integrated is to think of it as a salad bowl.
The salad bowl concept is that cultures come together, but they still have their unique, individual identify, just like the vegetables in a salad. You have lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, and onions. All are different, but they come together to form something great! Different American cultures are brought together like salad ingredients. They are a part of America, but they keep their own distinct qualities and characteristics.
New York City is the most ethnically diverse city in the United States.
Cultures from all over the world are represented in New York's five boroughs (the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island).
Within those areas, people from different cultures have established their own little communities.
Chinatown, Little Italy, Curry Row, Koreatown, Dutchtown, Spanish Harlem, and Borough Park are just some of the areas where ethnic cultural groups live.
