The job of government is to maintain order, provide services for citizens, and resolve conflicts. All of these are done to help the overall well-being of the society.
Decisions are made in government to help resolve conflict. When different parties have conflicting views, those parties hold meetings in which each group expresses its position. These meetings are used to try to find some form of resolution that is acceptable to both parties.
The government helps resolve conflict by bringing people together and focusing on compromise. Each side gives something up to get something and resolve the conflict.
