Many red and gold theater seats.

Centerville High School is preparing for their spring music concert. Mr. Wrigley, the music teacher, is setting out chairs for the audience. He has 825 chairs and wants to divide them into rows of 55 chairs each. How many rows can he make?

In order to solve this division problem, divide the total number of chairs that Mr. Wrigley has, 825, by the number of chairs he wants to put in each row, 55. Then you will know how many rows he needs to make.

Here is what this problem looks like as a division equation.

Eight hundred twenty five divided by fifty five minus fifty five equals two hundred seventy five minus two hundred seventy five equals zero; the quotient is fifteen.

Mr. Wrigley can make 15 rows of chairs with 55 chairs in each row.
