Have you noticed that even without a measurement device you are able to construct figures with precision? Not only can you make constructions with accurate angle measurements, but you can also use constructions for angle addition and subtraction.
In this activity, you will use constructions to create a congruent line segment (or copy of a line segment). Document your process as you perform each step. In the first column, explain your steps. In the second column, make your drawing, and show a progression from the first step to the last step. The first row is completed for you. Since this activity requires drawing, you will need to print the worksheet, complete the activity, and when finished, submit the activity to your teacher.
Your assignment will be scored using the following rubric:
5 | 3 | 1 | |
Steps | Steps are in the correct order and include enough to complete the construction. | Steps are included, but some are either missing or in the wrong order. | Most steps are missing or not in the correct order. |
Explanations | The explanations for each step are thorough and describe, in detail, what is supposed to happen during that step. | The explanations for each step are present but the description is somewhat vague on what is supposed to happen during each step. | Most of the explanations are either missing or too vague to follow. |
Construction | Each step contains an appropriate construction element, showing progression from step to step; the construction is clear and accurate. | Each step contains a construction element, but either does not show progression from step to step or the construction is difficult to see. | Many of the construction elements are missing. |
