Can you imagine walking hundreds of miles to discover an unknown wilderness? That’s what President Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to do. He sent them on an expedition to explore the unknown lands of the western United States. An expedition is a journey to explore something. They hired Sacagawea to become their guide and translator as they explored the West. You may have heard their names. Where are they from? Click on each picture below to find out.
