Let’s take a trip around the world with Nya the Explorer to learn about the hottest places on Earth. Watch this video to learn all about the animals that live in these hot, sandy places.
Oh look! It’s Nya the Explorer with her camera. She’s
traveling around the world studying the animals that live in
the hottest deserts. Let’s explore with her today!
Where should we go first?
We’re in Australia, in the center of the Australian outback.
Look at those prints in the sand. Do you know what they
belong to?
It’s a dingo. They may look like dogs, but they are wild
desert animals.
And there’s a bearded dragon. Look at its spiny skin! The
bearded dragon keeps its open mouth as it tries to stay cool
in the heat of the day.
Where should we go next?
We’re traveling to the Middle East where deserts are all
around. Look at the camels walking across the sand. They can
go for many days without drinking water.
And there’s an oryx with its long horns. It’s a type of
antelope and one of the largest mammals that live in the
desert.
Now where should we go?
It’s the Sahara Desert, one of the largest in the world.
It’s in Africa and crosses 11 different countries.
All sorts of animals live here including some very poisonous
snakes like the horned viper. Can you see it hiding in the
sand?
And look at the adorable fennec fox! Its big ears keep it
cool and hear animals burrowing underground.
One more stop. Can you guess the hottest place in the United
States?
It’s Death Valley California. The temperatures in the
summer are around 113°Farenheit.
Wow! That lizard blends in well with the sand in its
burrow.
And look at that bighorn sheep on the rocks!
We’ve had so much fun with Nya visiting deserts around the
world.
