Soccer Dribble

Action: Control a soccer ball by softly kicking it. The ball should stay a short distance in front of you while jogging or running.

Technique:

  • Start with the ball in front of you.
  • Turn your toes out and contact the ball with the inside of your foot.
  • Only kick the ball a few feet in front of you. Do not kick it too hard. The further you kick the ball in front of you, the easier it is for another player to take it away from you.
  • Jog after the ball, and kick it a short distance again.
  • Keep control of the ball using only your feet.

Skill Activities:

  • Start by walking while dribbling. When you feel comfortable, change to a jog and then a run.
  • Dribble the ball in a zigzag pattern.
  • Race a friend while dribbling.
