Jack wants to be a ferry boat captain, so he was not surprised when his Career Clusters Survey indicated that he was interested in Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics. He was surprised when he found that careers in that Cluster include ferry boat captains but also range from airline pilots to highway engineers to shipping experts. You may find, as Jack did, that each Career Cluster includes careers that do and don't match your interests. As you begin narrowing your career options, you will find that similar careers are already grouped together. Those groups are called pathways. Pathways package similar careers within a Cluster, giving you a way to better focus your career search and combine careers that require common sets of knowledge or skills.

In every Cluster, there are at least two pathways. As you remember from your O*NET scavenger hunt, there are likely to be many career options within each pathway, giving you room to learn and explore more before you set the target for your career plan.
