Objectives
Students will:

- Identify and describe new technology used during the Civil War.
- Identify Northern and Southern successes and failures in the early years of the war.
- Outline the role of border states in the war.
- Describe the role of African Americans in the Civil War.
- Tell why Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
- Examine the roles of women in the war.
- Tell about the daily lives of Civil War soldiers.
- Contrast the economic effects of the war as felt by the North and South.
- Note the battles that turned the tide of the war in 1863 and the events leading to surrender in 1865.
