Objectives

Students will:

2. Identify and describe new technology used during the Civil War.
3. Identify Northern and Southern successes and failures in the early years of the war.
4. Outline the role of border states in the war.
5. Describe the role of African Americans in the Civil War.
6. Tell why Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
7. Examine the roles of women in the war.
8. Tell about the daily lives of Civil War soldiers.
9. Contrast the economic effects of the war as felt by the North and South.
10. Note the battles that turned the tide of the war in 1863 and the events leading to surrender in 1865.
