If we could eliminate General Adaptation Syndrome, should we?

You have learned about the three-stage stress response called General Adaptation Syndrome. The three stages—alarm, resistance, and exhaustion—may or may not all occur in a given stressful situation. And you know that the effects of General Adaptation Syndrome may be positive or negative, depending on how quickly the danger or stressful situation passes and how well an individual recovers from it. What if we could change human behavior to eliminate General Adaptation Syndrome? Would that be a good idea?

Stressed Student What do you think? Does General Adaptation Syndrome belong in modern life? Should we be working to eliminate this stress response from our collective psyche? If we could eliminate it, what would be the likely result?

Think about how General Adaptation Syndrome has affected your own health and well-being both positively and negatively. Then, go to the next discussion assignment in this course and post your answer to the questions above. Be sure to provide reasons and examples to support your answer.

Then, when you finish creating your own post, respond to the post of at least two other students.
