A direct free kick is given for intentionally fouling an opponent in the following manner:
- tripping
- holding
- playing the ball with a hand or arm (except goalkeeper)
- kicking or attempting to kick
- jumping at an opponent
- charging from behind
- charging in a violent or dangerous manner
- striking or attempting to strike
- pushing
If a defending player intentionally commits one of the direct-foul offenses within the defender’s penalty area, a penalty kick is given from the 12 yard mark of the opposing team.
