GAS-LIQUID SOLUTIONS
A gas can also dissolve in a liquid to form a gas-liquid solution. One example is making seltzer or soda water. Carbon dioxide (solute) is dissolved in water (solvent) to make soda water. This is the carbonation that makes soda pop.
LIQUIDS ARE CLEAR
Liquid solutions are always clear. What we mean by this is that they can be colored (as tea or coffee are), but there are no floating particles in them. This is how you can determine the difference between a mixture that is a solution and a mixture that is not a solution.
The solutions below are all clear but different.
Red: cobalt, Orange: potassium dichromate, Yellow: potassium chromate, Green: nickel, (II) chloride Blue: sulfate, Violet: potassium permanganate.
