Objectives

Students will:

1. Identify groups or categories of Americans who decided to settle on the Western frontier (Mormons, Chinese immigrants, 49ers, missionaries).
2. Describe why various groups decided to settle out West.
3. Compare and contrast the experiences of different groups of settlers in the West.
4. Describe interactions between American settlers and Native Americans on the western frontier.
