In this lesson, you will consider what stress is and how it can impact your life and your learning. Stress is known by several common symptoms: high blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and a quick temper. But stress can be identified by other traits as well. You will learn about the causes and symptoms of stress and distress and the way the brain prepares the body to fight or flee from dangerous situations. Finally, you will do a quick analysis and evaluation of the stress in three areas of your life. Your new awareness of stress and its impact on learning will prepare you to gain the most from Unit Two—Managing Your Time and Resources.
