Think about the way stress impacts your life and your learning.Consider the many factors that impact your learning. Your previous schoolexperiences, your home and family situation, your relationships with peers andteachers, and your abilities and interests all impact the way that you managestress.
Begin this activity by exploring how much stress if any you might experience in four areas: school, relationships, schedule and home. Now dig a little deeper by thinking about things that could be sources of stress in each area. For example, you may feel stress at school because of grades, teacher expectations, or extracurricular activities.
Next, rate your level ofstress for each area by placing a check in one of four columns: Good stress;More stress than I like; On the brink; or Too much stress. Refer to the HumanFunction Curve and remember that physical signs of stress include muscletension, upset stomach, headaches, anxiety, anger, depression, family andfriend problems, sleeplessness, difficulty learning, and ongoing fatigue.
Finally, thinkcreatively and critically about actions you might take to reduce stress for anyarea you rated as 2, 3, or 4. Write those ideas in the last column of thetable.
This is a graded activity in which you will remember, understand, apply, and reflect on what you have learned about stress. It is worth 15points.
