How do you go from storyboard to designed slides or frames?

You should have created a basic storyboard earlier in this course, based on a research topic, and you've just written a voiceover script representing the exact words to say when you record the audio track for your presentation. Now design each frame or slide in your presentation. Remember that each frame should be interesting enough to grab and hold the viewer's attention, but simple enough to make sense.

Imagine a slide focused on the idea that women stepped up to play key roles in the war effort during World War II--efforts that won them some respect and perhaps paved the way for women to be permitted to join all branches of the military. You want your viewers to be intrigued by the possibilities, but you don't want to overwhelm them with examples and information. How might you design such a slide?

female surveyors

Instead of showing several small images of women working at traditionally male jobs, choose just one larger image.

transitioning images of women in the workforce

Alternatively, you might show several large images one at a time, with each fading into the other.

women replacing men as railroad workers

Instead of describing all the ways women replaced men in jobs around the country, you might tell just one story as an example, using quotes from women if you have them.

Before finalizing your design, read your script aloud with the image(s) and/or text you've selected. Time yourself, and check to see that you're not repeating the same information more than once.
