Next, you will learn about the cultural regions of Sub-Saharan Africa, Russia and Central Asia, East Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, and the South Pacific.
Sub-Saharan Africa
Sub-Saharan Africa is the area of Africa south of the Sahara Desert. There are many separate groups, or tribes, each with its own language and culture. Most are either Christians or Muslims. They have a rich culture and history in which the same traditions and way of life are followed. 
Russia and Central Asia
The largest country in this region is Russia where people speak Russian. There are a few other countries and languages in this region, and Christianity is the main religion. 
The people of Russia hold festivals in which they wear traditional clothing from the past. Literature, philosophy, classical music, ballet, architecture, and painting have shaped the culture of this region. 
East Asia
China, Japan, North and South Korea, and Mongolia make up this cultural region. People usually speak the language of their country--Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Mongolian. People in this region may follow Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, or a number of other faiths. They have deep roots in their culture and ancestry. The food, clothing, architecture, and traditions are all passed down from generation to generation. 
South Asia
This region is made up of eight countries--India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are just a few. Most Indians are Hindus, and most Pakistanis are Muslim. 
Indians speak English, as well as Hindi and other local languages. Pakistanis speak English, as well as Urdu. 
Traditional garments are usually worn, and arts, crafts, and food are major influences on the culture. 
South East Asia
South East Asia has been influenced by the Chinese, Indians, Arabs, and Europeans. 
Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity are the main religions people in this region follow. A traditional way of life established by their ancestors is also common among the people in this region. 
South Pacific
The South Pacific includes all of Australia, New Zealand, and the surrounding islands. Ceremonies celebrating the early indigenous aborigines still go on today. 
English, Polynesian, and tribal languages are spoken in this region. Christianity is the main religion, although some follow Animism. The people living in the major cities along the coast of Australia have a similar way of life as the people of the United States and Europe.
