Classical China is rich in history and culture and many of their traditions have carried on into the present day.

Culture is often described as the distinct ways that people live and the things that stand out within their specific society and are representative of their experiences in things such as the arts and music.  Classical China has many cultural contributions that have come from all of the different dynasties that that rose and fell during Chinese history.  For instance the Song Dynasty excelled in the arts, music, literature and philosophy while The Qin Dynasty is more well know for their contributions to architecture.

Religion is a major contributing force to Chinese culture. Buddhism and Taosim are two religions that have been practiced in China.  Both religions have specific traditions that are widely practiced throughout China. Buddhism and Taoism both encourage meditation. Practices such as Tai Chi emerged from China and have had worldwide influence on Buddhists and non- Buddhists alike.  One aspect of Taoism that has had worldwide influence is the idea of Yin and Yang. Yin/Yang is embedded in almost all aspects of Chinese culture including spirituality, design, and food.  Feng Shui is an example of how Yin/Yang had an effect on design and interior decorating.  Most Chinese people to this day feel that it is important for a house to be decorated and built in balance with nature and for all aspects of design to complement each other.
