Shawn the Lawn Mower is busy all day! It is spring, and there is so much yard work to get done! His friend Fawn is going to help him do half the work! Half is one of 2 equal parts of a whole. Halves are 2 equal parts of a whole. Can you help Shawn and Fawn divide lawns that are different shapes in half? Thanks!

Wow, look at this beautiful yard! A huge lawn shaped like a rectangle! Oh, boy, that will take a while to mow! How can Shawn and Fawn equally mow the lawn? Right! Each of them can mow 1 half of the lawn. Let’s draw a line down the middle of the yard to make halves.

Shawn will mow the first half, and Fawn will mow the second half! Nice! All done!

On to a new yard! Wow, this lawn is shaped like a perfect triangle. How can we divide this lawn in half? Right! We can divide it in half down the middle by drawing a line. Great! Shawn will mow one half, and Fawn will mow the other half! Wonderful! All done mowing this beautiful, triangle-shaped lawn!

Aw, look at that cute cat enjoying the freshly mowed lawn!

All right. This is the last lawn to mow for the day. Hmm, it seems to be heart shaped. How cool! We can divide the lawn in half by drawing a line down the middle. Now Shawn the Lawn Mower can mow one half, and Fawn can mow the other half! Another beautifully mowed lawn!

Thank you for helping Shawn the Lawn Mower and Fawn mow some lawns by dividing the different-shaped lawns in half! See you next time. Goodbye!
