There are lots of different kinds of trees all over the world. Let’s find out more about types of trees with Oliver and Rosie in this video.
Oliver and Rosie are learning about trees today.
They go online and find out there are two main types of
trees: deciduous and coniferous.
Deciduous trees lose their leaves in the winter.
Coniferous trees stay green all year long.
Wow, look at this! The tallest tree in the world is a
giant redwood. It can get up to 360 feet tall. It’s a
coniferous tree. That means this tree stays green all year
long.
They also find out that the oldest trees in the world are
called bristlecone pines. These trees can be over 4,000
years old. They are conifers, too.
Oliver and Rosie are inspired to find out what kind of
trees grow where they live, so they take a walk in the
forest to see what they can find. Rosie brings her camera
to take photos so they can make a tree scrapbook.
Take a look at this tree. It’s a maple tree. Look at the
big, broad leaves. It is a deciduous tree.
This fir tree has sharp, pointy needles. It is a
coniferous tree.
The oak tree has rounded leaves and produces lots of
acorns for animals to eat each year. It is a deciduous
tree.
Cedar trees have feathery leaves and a woodsy scent. It is
a coniferous tree.
Rosie and Oliver go home to make their scrapbook. Can you
name each type of tree?
Oliver glues photos of the maple and oak trees on the
deciduous tree page. Rosie glues the cedar and fir tree
photos on the coniferous tree page. Were you right?

where they live. What trees can you find near you?
