Let’s use all that we have learned and calculate coins to equal a dollar! When we have coins that add up to 100¢, we have $1.00. We can add up various coins to equal a $1 bill.
When we have $1.00, we use a decimal to show how many cents we have over 100¢. We can say $1.00 is one dollar and zero cents!
If we have a value below $1.00, we write the amount using a ¢, or cent, sign.
Let’s look at different ways coins can equal $1.00!
Let’s practice finding the value of coins with Stella’s kites. She has 2 quarters, 3 dimes, 3 nickels, and 5 pennies on the tail of her kite. Let’s calculate the value of Stella’s coins!
