In your sketchbook, create a quick guide to help you remember the elements of art and the principles of design.
Turn to a place in your sketchbook where you have two blank pages side-by-side. On the left page, make a large table with two columns and eight rows (they don’t have to be exactly equal). On the right page, make a large table with two columns and 11 rows.

The first row in each column should contain your labels. On the left page, label your columns “Elements of Art” and “Example.” On the right page, label them “Principles of Design” and “Example.” Now go through and list each of the elements of art on the left page and the principles of design on the right page.
In the second column of your table include the following for each element and principle:
- A short, written definition of the element or principle.
- A drawn example of each element and principle.
Take a picture and submit it to your teacher for points. To receive full points for this assignment, make sure you have all of the required information in your guide to help you remember the elements of art and the principles of design. You will receive one point for each row in your table.
