Do some research on artwork that interests you. Explore various movements in Western and Eastern art or look into tribal art from various places in the world. Find two works in the same style by different artists and write a paragraph analyzing them. Make sure to include the following points in your writing:

- What are the names of the artworks and the artists who created them? What year were they created?
- What style of art do they represent?
- How are the artworks similar?
- How are they different?
- What do you like about these artworks? Why do they appeal to you?
Make sure to use the language of art when writing about the works you chose. This means describing their similarities and differences by naming the elements of art and principles of design they illustrate and describing how the artists use them. (It is possible to write a whole essay when comparing artworks, but try to keep your writing to a paragraph and focus on the elements and principles that most appeal to you.) Submit images of the two artworks and your paragraph to your teacher.
Next, in your sketchbook, draw one of the artworks you chose using pencil, colored pencil, or marker. Focus on improving your observational skills and expanding your technique.
When you are finished, submit a picture of your work and the one you used as inspiration to the Art Discussion Board and look at your peers’ artwork. You will be graded by the following rubric for this discussion.
