In this lesson, you have reviewed the structure and function of the major body systems. These are the organs and tissues that allow you to stand, run, grow, obtain energy from food, eliminate waste products, think, and learn. You have also examined the physical, mental, and emotional changes that occur during puberty. Puberty signals the beginning of adolescence, a time when the body and mind are maturing but also a time of confusion and emotional ups and downs.
How can you be ready for the puberty/adolescence rollercoaster ride? One way is to learn what the experience was like for someone else. For this week’s activity, you will interview an older friend or family member about his or her experience of puberty and adolescence.
