What if you prefer a military career?

Going back to school right after graduation isn't for everyone. Some high school students plan to join a branch of the U.S. military, hoping to dedicate at least a part of their lives to defending the nation and furthering its goals abroad. Even if you don't plan to remain a soldier for the rest of your life, a few years in the military can give you important life experiences and instill a sense of honor and service to others. The military will also help you pay for schooling later on.
