Objectives
Students will:
- Identify and explain ongoing foreign policy issues of the 21st century.
- Identify and describe relatively new democracies in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
- Identify the ideas, leaders, and general societal conditions that have launched and sustained, or failed to sustain, these fledgling democracies.
- Evaluate the successes of relatively new democracies in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
- Explain the arguments for and against "nation building" as a foreign policy goal.

- Define foreign policy and identify examples of American foreign policies.
