In the search for transportation that runs on alternative fuels, people have come up with solar cars, electric cars, and various other more environmentally friendly vehicles. These all have their advantages and disadvantages.

• Electric cars, while they are completely silent and create no emissions, need a lot of batteries and current models can only go 50-100 miles before recharging is necessary. 
• Solar powered cars that get excellent mileage of 50 mph or more, but these are very small and lightweight and don’t have a lot of power.
  
• Hybrid cars, also known as hybrid electric cars are currently the most common type of alternative power vehicles. They are extremely efficient; they get twice the gas mileage of conventional cars and have greatly reduced emissions. They have the same amount of accelerating power and just as much room as many conventional cars.
