They use what is needed, throw in extra power as needed, and have the ability to either turn off any extra power or save the power that is generated and not needed.On top of all that, there are the usual design features of efficient cars, such as aerodynamic design and the use of lightweight materials. There are also special tires that are stiffer and more inflated to reduce drag.
As each car manufacturer comes out with its own version of a hybrid car, it is interesting to see what other advancements there are in the technology. Hopefully, more and more people will become interested in these as one way they can help out with the dwindling fossil fuel supplies and the increasing pollution from car emissions.
