Compiling a portfolio is a little like organizing a backyard barbecue. You have to find all the right ingredients and prepare them in ways that enhance their taste, texture, and appearance. Then you must carefully monitor each piece's time on the grill. For your portfolio, you edited and proofread, simmered and seasoned your words, tasted and sampled each piece. Now it's time to share the results of your hard work.
As a general rule, you should include 5-7 pieces of your writing in your portfolio, including at least one piece from each of the following categories:
- A letter to the reviewer
- An example of persuasive writing
- An example of expository writing
- An example of narrative writing
- An example of descriptive writing
When you are satisfied that your portfolio meets all of this lesson's requirements, submit it to your teacher. Your work on this assignment will be graded using the rubric below.
