What in the world is a comma? A comma is a punctuation mark that separates words within a sentence. When reading a sentence, you should pause at a comma.

Let's look to see how we use commas.

Use commas in a sentence to separate a list of three or more words.

Let's look at another sentence with a list of words. Watch carefully for those commas.

You also use commas to separate the day and the year in a date.

Let’s look at another example of a date with a comma in it.
