Remember Mr. Alligator? He loves eating the biggest numbers, such as the 10 and the 4 below.
7 < 10
The line above is read, "7 is less than 10," and the line below is read, "4 is greater than 1."
4 > 1
What if the numbers are the same? If the numbers are the same, then they are equal to each other. We use the = symbol between two numbers that are the same.
5 = 5
The line above is read, "5 is equal to 5." Mr. Alligator doesn't like eating numbers that are equal. He only likes the biggest numbers.
