Use 10's to Add
Try adding to a 10!

One way to make it easier to add three numbers is to add to a 10. In this example, we will make 10 with two numbers and then add the third number.

Add 8 + 3.
Split the second addend into two numbers. One of the numbers should make 10 with the first addend.
8 + 2 = 10
Now you have 10 + 1 = 11.
