Magazines and news articles are not the only sources for informational text. Groups and agencies that belong to the United States government do research and then provide information on a variety of topics.

You can find most of this information by looking on the website of each department. Information related to health and safety often takes the form of a brochure that is created to help people understand a specific issue.

Brochures look a little different than print or online magazine articles. Instead of many paragraphs and lots of detail, a brochure often uses bullet points like the ones in this picture. Brochures also use images, charts, or diagrams to display information.

Although they may look different, brochures use the same methods to support their claims as other types of informational text. They present a claim and then provide details, reasons, and examples to persuade readers that the claim is true.
