Babysitting

Babysitting is when a person is hired to watch another person's children. Becky babysits while Mr. and Mrs. Nelson go out to dinner. She makes an hourly wage of $12. She watched the kids from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, so she made $72.

Yard Work

Raking leaves, shoveling snow, and mowing grass are examples of jobs you can do for your family and neighbors during certain times of the year. These can be hourly jobs, or you can charge a commission. For example, Greg charges $15 to mow a small yard of grass and $25 to mow a larger yard of grass. This is the money he earns after the job is complete. It doesn't matter how long it takes him to mow the grass, he still only gets that amount.

However, Ted charges $10 an hour to mow. It doesn't matter the size of the yard, that is the amount he charges. If it takes him longer to cut a larger yard, he earns more than Greg.

Feeding Pets

Feeding and taking care of a person's pets is a job some people do. Because it doesn't usually take an hour, this is more of a commission-based job. You get a certain amount of money after the job is complete. Sarah gets $20 for feeding her neighbors cat two times a day, and she also changes the litter box once. She only needs to do it for two days.

Dog Walker

Amy is a dog walker. Dog owners hire her to walk their dogs daily. She earns a salary of $10,000 per year walking dogs as a part time job.

Group Of Children Holding Bake Sale

Bake Sale

A bake sale is a way to make a commission. You earn money for each item someone purchases. But make sure to consider the cost it takes to make the baked goods before setting a price for each item. You want to make sure you are able to make money.

For example, it costs $10 to buy cupcake ingredients, and you make 24 cupcakes. If you sold each cupcake for $2, you would make $24. That is more than what it costs you to make them, so you would be making a profit of $14. Always consider the money you must spend when doing a job.

Lemonade Stand

A lemonade stand is a great way to earn money on a hot summer day. It is also a commission-based job where you earn money based on how much you sell. (Don't forget that it will cost money to make the lemonade.) If you sold lemonade for $.50 a cup and sold 50 cups, how much money would you make that day? You would make $25.
